Developers Reveal New Skate 4 Details In Update

With the announcement of new Skate iteration coming sometime in 2023, Skate 4 promises to have new activities. Although the game is still submerged in a developmental stage, playtesting has revealed some of its new features. One of those new features is called Challenges. Challenges are described by developers as “short solo experiences that rotate in and out.”

There are three categories within the challenge mode: Pop-ups, Community Events and Throwdowns. Pop-ups encourage a cooperative experience among players and involve dynamic group functioning games such as tag. Community Events involve large groups of players and will rotate in and out every so often. Throwdowns are more player vs. player and allow skaters to gather and compete in any number of ways. Challenges are designed to be flexible, and as such, they will change to meet the demands of players. More information about the challenge mode is described in Skate’s The Board Room video.

One of the most important aspects to the new Skate’s gameplay is its emphasis on user-generated content.

Because the global video game audience is currently so obsessed with open-world and interaction, Skate 4 is striving to keep its identity as an open-world skating game that allows players to get the most out of the game in whatever fashion they desire.

Skateboarding is not just about skating, it’s its own culture. Clothes, the lucrative lifestyle, the social clicks that develop, contests, urban skating, various art forms like skate videos and photography, all embody the essence of skating. Thus, the new Skate wouldn’t be a skating video game if it didn’t consider the sprawling culture that is skateboarding. To make sure the new Skate checks its mark on this factor, there is plenty of customization available to the player. This includes dressing your character in any matter of your choosing, customizing your skateboard, changing the appearance of your character, and unlocking new skins for both your board and your character.

The new Skate is definitely fine-tuning itself to become a modern multiplayer video game that ensures the player can play exactly the way they want to play it. There is even a mode where you can edit skate parks in real time with a bunch of other random people and lay down some tricks while other people build ramps to make even more tricks accessible. Or you can choose the same edit mode but with a lobby full of friends. While you practice tricks on a rail system you built earlier, your friends can build around it and craft new ramps and rails to lay tricks down on.

All in all, the new Skate is promising a variety of options and ample space to experiment with on your next skating adventure!
