Developers Of Life Is Strange Share Screens For Latest Game Vampyr

Life in Dontnod’s next game Vampyr certainly is strange. Vampires roam the streets, curing the sick, occasionally sucking the blood of Londoners. It’s a dark time both tonally and literally (because vampires you see). Dontnod wants to make that abundantly clear to everyone and the newest screens for the game do just that.

According to a post on the Playstation Blog made by Vampyr‘s Director Philippe Moreau, players will take control of Jonathan Reid former military doctor and vampire. The game will take place in 1918 shortly after the first World War while London is in the grips of the Spanish flu. It’s up to you to help or harm the city by either treating the sick or focusing on feeding.

The screenshots show us the dark and gloomy side of London, a fitting style for the Gothic story Dontnod wants to tell.

In one screen we see a makeshift hospital littered with medical supplies and other items.

In another image we see first aid tents lining the streets, highlighting the extent of the disease.

We also get a nice shot of a looming cathedral with an shadowed figure wandering the streets.

Like Life is Strange, Vampyr will be a choice driven game with each choice effecting you and London as a whole. Reid’s background as a surgeon in the army and “first do no harm” attitude will clash with his need to drink blood, leaving the player to choose which is more important.

Along with the game’s branching narrative, it will also feature a combat system with a host of powers to use which can only be upgraded by-you guessed it-feeding on the citizens of London.

Currently Vampyr is slated for sometime in 2017 and will release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In the mean time you can watch the concept trailer and check out some of the other screenshots below.
