Life is Strange has drastically grown from an underground game to an award winning title. Now, DONTNOD Entertainment, the creators of the game, are taking another bold step further into the gaming industry by introducing their new game, Twin Mirror. The game holds very strong similarities to Life is Strange’s artwork and style, but the plotline is far more twisted and ill fated.
Twin Mirror introduces a psychological conflict, for the main character battles within himself to find out why his shirt was left bloody, and why couldn’t he remember anything from the night before. Now, he must uncover the truth of his footsteps as they lead him to the answers he feared.
We are brought into Basswood, Virginia, where Sam encounters a not so happy reunion with his hometown friends. Visiting the town to attend his best friend’s funeral, Sam finds himself almost ostracized by his own community and is left confused as to where the sudden rejection had manifested from. Sam drinks himself past a stupor and into a severe black out. When he wakes up, he is not only is clueless about what happened the day before, but cannot seem to draw a conclusion of how blood had gotten onto his shirt. The death of a close friend, random rejection from his community, and an intense blackout seems to point to Sam being a prime suspect in his situation.
Twin Mirror is an emotional experience, and those who have an interest in deep psychological issues should definitely pick up this game. Or, if you loved Life is Strange and the emotional thrill that came with it, fans should without a doubt check out Twin Mirror. “As he comes to terms with heartbreak, homecoming, and the perpetual struggle of adulthood, Sam will need your help exploring a dark and emotional adventure where the line between truth and deception is blurred.” Bandai states.
As of now, Twin Mirror will not be available until some time within 2019 for the PS4.
