It appears a new entry in the classic Dungeon & Dragons computer RPG series Baldur’s Gate may be on its way. The developers of Divinity Original Sin 2, Larian Studios, may be teasing a third installment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise. On the Larian Studios official website, a giant roman numeral three appears on the screen with no other details.
While it would make more sense that this could be a tease for a Divinity Original Sin 3, some users have discovered this may in fact be a tease for Baldur’s Gate 3. Twitter user Kunken has dove into the source code of the Larian Studios page to discover some details including a hidden video.

According to Kunken’s Twitter thread, if one opens the hidden video in a text editor, then they can very obvious details that point to a Baldur’s Gate 3. One such line of code contains “BaldursGate_logo_III_retouched.png” which is some pretty solid evidence that this tease could be for Baldur’s Gate 3 by itself. However, even more evidence is found later in the code where a line contains “Baldur’s Gate, Dungeons & Dragons, and their respective logos are registered trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC.” This looks to be very concrete evidence that Larian Studios is in fact teasing Baldur’s Gate 3.
Elsewhere, Skybound Games and Beamdog announced that they are partnering up to release the original Baldur’s Gate and its DLC, the Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion, Baldur’s Gate II and its DLC, and other classic Dungeon & Dragons RPGs to consoles this Fall. With these releases on the horizon, a new entry in the series being on its way would make sense. With E3 just around the corner, longtime fans could be getting news on if this is true or not very soon.
