S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl has received a lot of love since its release on November 20th, but players have noticed a slew of bugs plaguing the widely enjoyed game. Many of these bugs have led to games crashing on player, potentially losing progress in the process. Developer GSC have now released a lengthy list, five days after the release of the game, with many bug and crashing fixes. Listed below are all the fixes included in the recent update.
Crash fixes that include issues with memory allocation failures, which previously caused the game to exit unexpectedly, particularly around rendering, skeletal meshes, and quest-related cutscenes.
Main quest progression fixes were also made that include several bugs that block the main quest progression, NPCs getting stuck in objects, incorrect quest markers, and issues with quest cutscenes. Revision of the main quests (like Visions of Truth or A Minor Incident) to ensure smooth transitions, avoiding rare cases of players not being able to proceed further were also fixed.
The team also made gameplay and balance adjustments by fixing the price of the weapons with upgrades installed compared to their value without attachments and changing NPCs behavior, including the way they act when lacking a shelter during the Emissions.
There were some cutscene and visual fixes which include rarely missing facial animations, misplaced NPCs, and visual inconsistencies like detached heads and clothes clipping. They also made quality and stability improvements for the visual effects.
Softlock issues were fixed, such as an issue where players were unable to close the trade screen after putting ammo in a wrong slot while playing on a gamepad.
Some user interface improvements were made, including quest notifications now shown correctly during dialogues and corrected texts and missing interaction prompts.
Lastly, CSG also noted fixes that will be addressed in future updates, including analogue sticks dead zones bug fixes and A-Life system bug fixes.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl is currently enjoying one million copies sold within a week of its release and on Steam, it has a peak concurrent player count of 117,928, placing it amongst the most-played games on Steam.
