Mobile game developer Halfbrick Studios is now going to publish games in the future. Their first is a puzzle game called Birzzle Fever. The Australian studio is well known for the games Fruit Ninja (one version in the form of a Xbox 360 Kinect game) and Jetpack Joyride.
Gamesindustry International reports that the company’s first game they’re publishing is from a South Korean developer named Enfeel. Enfeel’s game Birzzle Fever is similar to two games already out. First in features characters designed similar to angry birds. Second it has a puzzle gameplay that looks like candy crush.
Birzzle Fever is an example of the ambitions the company is looking to achieve as they move forward.
“As one of the most successful mobile game developers in the world,” said the company in a press release. “Halfbrick has the resources and knowledge to assist other developers in reaching a world full of players eager to check out the latest and greatest games.”
The company is placing a department in charge of discussing with developers plans to publish games and request from publishers trying to find a way to publish.
“Starting up publishing operations was a natural move to ensure that great content gets the attention it deserves,” the company said. “A special team will be dedicated to working with developers who are interested in having their games published, providing analysis and recommendations during all stages of development.”
Birzzle Fever developer Enfeel started developing games in 2010 and their previous game, Birzzle, has been downloaded 7 million times worldwide.
Halfbrick was founded in 2001 and has been developing games on a variety of platforms. Their work includes PSP, DS and GBA games. Birzzle Fever is releasing worldwide Thursday, June 19 on the mobile market. The next game set for a worldwide debut under Halfbrick publishing is Yes Chef. Still no word on the worldwide release date.
