Fans of the Binding of Isaac series may be happy to hear that Edmund McMillen has released a brand new game, The Legend of Bum-Bo. According to Polygon, the game follows the adventures of a naked man named Bum-Bo as he travels through a dungeon in order to collect coins. The game has been described as a turn-based “deckbuilding roguelike” made entirely out of paper. The game is out right now for $14.99 on Steam for Mac and PC.
The release trailer for the game also explains that the game is a prequel to the Binding Of Isaac Series. The game includes a number of features such as multiple different Bum-Bo’s and each Bum-Bo has different abilities. The game uses cards for the item system and these cards can be traded and upgraded. Certain cards can be used to attack enemies or heal oneself in the form of spells. The cards can also be used to make combinations that can stave off the game’s numerous enemies. The release trailer shows that The Legend of Bum-Bo includes a number mini-games such as a Casino with a spin-the-wheel game and a cup switching game using skulls. The Mother from The Binding Of Isaac series also makes an appearance in the form of a spell stomping on everyone. The game also features a few enemies from the sequel series such as the Flies, and the Frowning Gaper.
McMillen has also been hard at work collaborating with the developers of the fan mod Antibirth in order to add the last expansion to The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth titled Repentance. No new information about the game is available at this time, however, more information will likely be released at a later date. The game is out right now for PC and Mac on Steam and has plans to release for iOS and Nintendo Switch.
