Deus Ex: Mankind Divided got its official release date today. Square Enix Inc. and Eidos-Montréal® announced that the game will launch globally on February 26, 2016 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Square Enix also announced its pre-order campaign for the game. Dubbed “Augment Your Pre-Order”, the campaign gives tiered rewards based on the number of preorders placed for the game worldwide. A total of five tiers are set, each including 1-3 rewards. Tiers become unlocked when a predetermined global preorder goal is hit. Those participating in the campaign will be allowed to select one reward from each tier.
The Augment Your Pre-Order campaign begins today with Tier 1 unlocked, giving preorder customers a choice between three starter packs based on different play styles.
- Intruder Pack – Provides a custom-skinned version of Adam Jensen’s trench coat and pistol with a silencer, laser sight, recoil and accuracy upgrades. Other bonuses include two EMP grenades, five packs of 10MM pistol ammo, 1000 credits and a Praxis point for early augmentations.
- Enforcer Pack – Includes a custom-skinned version of Adam Jensen’s combat armor and combat rifle with a holosight, reload and capacity upgrades. Players will also receive two HE grenades, five packs of 5.56MM combat rifle ammo, 1000 credits and a Praxis Point for early augmentations
- Classic Pack – Grants access to Adam Jensen’s iconic combat armor, trench coat and revolver from Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Players will also receive an extra pack of revolver Ammo.
Tier 2 gives customers the choice between a digital art book or digital soundtrack sampler; Tier 3 unlocks the extra in-game mission “Desperate Measures”; Tier 4 gives the choice between a digital comic book or a novella detailing some characters from the previous game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The 5th and final tier simply reads”the game will release four days before the official release date.”
A Collectors Edition for the game is also available for preorder. Preordering this version will guarantee the player all in-game content and rewards from the ‘Augment Your Pre-Order’ campaign as well as a 48-page ‘Titan’ Art Book, a 9″ Adam Jensen figurine, a limited edition steelbook and the Day 1 Edition of the game. The Collectors Edition retails at $149.99.
Initial fan response has been mostly negative thus far. At the time of posting the ‘Augment Your Pre-Order’ video on YouTube has received under 100 likes and close to 1,500 dislikes. The comment section of the video is mostly filled with viewers disgusted with the new preorder system with some even stating they refuse to buy the game due to it.
