Detroit: Become Human Sales Reach 3.2 Million Globally

Detroit: Become Human reached a new milestone yesterday as it has officially sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. The company behind Detroit: Become Human, Quantic Dream, revealed the news on Twitter with the announcement that the game has sold 3.2 million copies globally. The sale of Quantic Dream games will likely grow due to Quantic Dream’s expansion to the PC.

Detroit: Become Human initially released back in May of 2018 for the PS4, however, the game will be available for purchase from the Epic Games Store for PC sometime this year. Quantic Dream already has a one year exclusivity deal with Epic Games Store. Some of the titles that have already been added to the Epic Games Store will include Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and the aforementioned Detroit: Become Human. Guillaume de Fondaumiere had this to say about the expansion of Quantic Dream games to PC, “With this new partnership with Epic, we can now expand our products to a wider fan base and allow PC players to enjoy our titles.” The games will be released to other unspecified PC stores after a year has passed.

The studio boss of Quantic Dream, David Cage, stated that the company seeks to evolve into a “global, multi-franchise company” implying that the expansion into PC may only be the beginning and that Quantic Dream games could be coming to other platforms. This can be supported with his other statement that, “We want to keep developing original games in the genre we pioneered, but also expand our audience by being present on all platforms.” Detroit: Become Human is currently available for PlayStation 4 and will eventually release to the PC later this year.
