Detroit: Become Human Gets A Playable Demo And Alexa Will Help You Through It

In post on the Playstation blog today, Quantic Dream announced that they will be releasing a playable demo for their upcoming game Detroit: Become Human. The announcement came as part of a celebration for going gold and having the master copy of the game officially committed to disc.

“Detroit: Become Human is no longer our game. Instead, it will soon become yours. Yours to play, to own, to hopefully cherish. The fate of Connor, Kara and Markus is in your hands, along with the fate of all other characters in the game,” the team says in the post before going on to detail how the fans will have their first encounter with these characters.

The demo, titled Hostage, is dropping just one month ahead of the May 25 release date. It will cover the opening scene of the game which follows Connor, a hostage negotiator, through a difficult case. The demo will focus on teaching the game’s mechanics, showing players how to investigate an area and interact with those around them, as well illustrating how their choices will inform the outcome of events.

But that wasn’t the only announcement from the studio. Owners of the Amazon Echo will be able to download the “CyberLife” skill for Alexa which allows her to advise on the events of the game. “As you take on the role of Connor, a hostage negotiator android sent to take control of this high-stakes situation, the CyberLife Skill will help guide you in your decision making throughout the investigation process, while giving you a deeper look at the various characters involved within the Hostage demo,” the post goes on to explain.

It is a neat idea for integration given that the entire game is focused on artificial intelligence. However, this is a slightly disturbing premise when you think of the fact that you can start a robot revolution within the game. I suggest we all start being extra polite to Siri and Alexa.

Detroit: Become Human ‘Hostage’ will be available for download as of midnight tonight on PS4.
