Details Regarding Dr Disrespect’s Twitch Ban Revealed

Back in 2020, Dr Disrespect was one of Twitch’s biggest streamers until he was banned all of a sudden. Now, former Twitch employees have shared more details revealing why he was banned from the platform.

A former Twitch employee who worked on Twitch’s trust and safety team at the time of the ban in 2020 told The Verge that Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch for using Twitch’s former messaging system, Whispers, to allegedly exchange messages with a minor and allegedly initiate a conversation about allegedly meeting up at TwitchCon.

The ban came following Twitch’s update to its sexual harassment policy to punish offenders with permanent suspensions.

Speaking more about what led to the ban. The former Twitch employee said that significant time had passed between when the alleged messages were sent and when the moderation report about those alleged messages was filed. They weren’t able to recall how much time passed. When Twitch received the report in 2020, the former employee said that Twitch investigated the claims and ultimately banned Dr Disrespect.

Cody Conners, another former Twitch employee who worked on the company’s strategic partnerships team, provided a similar statement on X/Twitter.

Following the release of Conner’s post, Dr Disrespect denied what’s been said regarding the situation. “This has been settled, no wrongdoing was acknowledged, and they paid out the whole contract.”

He posted an additional statement saying “Listen, I’m obviously tied to legal obligations from the settlement with Twitch but I just need to say what I can say since this is the fucking internet. I didn’t do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid.”
