In an interview with Game Informer, Bungie decided to discuss, in detail, their plans for Destiny post update. With the Rise of Iron expansion soon to be released, Bungie gave details about what players should expect in the months following. It would seem as though Sparrow racing and the Festival of The Lost will be returning once again for a limited time.
Last year Destiny players were able to compete in an event during Halloween called Festival of The Lost. This event allowed players to travel around searching for special masks for a limited time. In their interview with Game Informer, Bungie was happy to announce that fans should be expecting even more masks as well as some special surprises coming this October.
In December, Destiny will also be seeing more Sparrow Racing League as they did last year. Not only will they be bringing back the old tracks, they will tweak them to make them better while also providing all new tracks to go along with it. Destiny’s live team director Jerry Hook had a bit to say on the topic.
When we talk about SRL coming back, it’ll probably be wrapped in a different style, not just focused around SRL. Because some of the stuff that we learned from our players around the Sparrow Racing League is that some people didn’t like racing. So, can you do something with the event that helps support those players a little bit differently? Absolutely.
Destiny’s last generation console users will not be seeing these events. Bungie has opted to focus on the next generation consoles and has actually announced that they will no longer be adding content to those older platforms. Bungie even refers to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as “Legacy Consoles”. They will however continue to add patches and fixes to continue improving the game.
Destiny’s Rise to Iron is expected to be released on September 20th.
