Destiny Developers At Bungie Bid Farewell To President, And Hello To New CEO

Today, the developing team behind the first-person shooter MMO Destiny announced via their website that Harold Ryan, long time studio President, will be leaving his position–meanwhile, Pete Parsons (previous COO) will be ascending to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Now with the weight of the “shared-world-shooter’s” future so newly rested on his shoulders, Parsons had this to say:

I want to personally thank Harold for his friendship, passion, hard work, and dedication in helping make Bungie the great company it is today. As a team, we celebrated many victories and weathered many storms.

To the players of Destiny, I want you to know that my number one priority, and Bungie’s, is and always has been to deliver great games that we can all share together. I believe that Destiny is a one-of-a-kind experience. I also believe you have yet to see our studio’s best work. My new role here at the studio will be entirely focused on fulfilling that promise.

Ryan, prior to this development, held his role as President for approximately sixteen years, having started with the company back in 2000. The reasons behind his leaving is unknown. This major change in their head honcho line up does coincide neatly with recent/odd ongoings in the media surrounding Destiny.

The unconfirmed Destiny sequel, reported to be slated for a September 2016, was recently pushed back. Furthermore, it appears many fans are becoming disgruntled how Bungie has not lived up to their schedule forecast of disc sequels for Destiny. There was also the matter of correcting glitches in the game’s matchmaking, which was implemented just this morning.

The team at Bungie, however, remains nothing but hopeful, saying:

This is yet another new beginning, and a new challenge for our studio. We remain committed to creating great experiences in Destiny.

We can look forward to Destiny’s next event, Crimson Days, on February 9th–just in time for Valentine’s Day.
