Destiny Beta Coming In July

Activision announced some new details about their FPS game, Destiny, at its recent quarterly financial report, and CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, mentions that the game is on track for their release on September 9th. The public beta will give players access in July. A fan asked Bungie a question about the beta, and the response that was given was:

 

The beta was originally set to launch in Spring 2014, but was pushed back to this summer in February. The beta will be released first on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, before coming later for Xbox One and Xbox 360. It was also reported that Activision is intending to invest $500 million to develop and promote Destiny.

“We have a strong product pipeline for the balance of the year, beginning with the September 9 the planned launch of Destiny, which we believe could become our next billion dollar franchise and the largest new videogame IP launch in history.”

On the official game site for Destiny, you will see the saying ‘Your hero. Your story. Your legend.’ The heroes that you have a choice from are Titans, Hunters, and Warlock. You live in a civilization that has changed because of an unknown called the Traveler. Explore the ancient ruins of the solar system, where the guardians of last safe city on Earth are located beneath the Traveler, and you will have to fight to reclaim your civilization against enemies, and become legend. As you fight to reclaim your land that you have lost, you will earn customizable weapons, gear, and vehicles. Also gameplay will include on-the-fly matchmaking, which will allow players to see and interact only with the other player they were matched with.
