Bungie revealed the next major string of buffs and nerfs focused on strengthening a number of underutilized Exotics and decreasing the potency of other effects.
The OP strand ability is associated with the subclass effect called ‘Suspend’ which has been destroying enemy champions.
Introduced back in February’s Lightfall expansion, ‘Strand’ is Destiny 2’s newest subclass complete with inter-dimensional green magic which immobilizes enemies, while at the same time, shredding them. Since then, Suspend has become one of the most strong effects in the game if not the strongest ability. Because your foes are suspended in the air for a short duration of time, they are prone to enemy attack while they are stunned. This fact is mainly the reason why the ability is too strong. The duration of the suspend is far too long and it makes it too easy for your foes to capitalize on the situation with ease. Additionally, it does not matter whether or not a champion has a low health bar or is currently equipped with a shield. This unbiased suspend system creates unfair combat opportunities. To address this problem, Destiny 2 is implementing a “skeleton key” that will improve combat problems against all combat types.
In an August 9 blog post, the suspend ability duration was to be decreased significantly. The blog post also read, “We’ve further reduced it against Champion combatants to ensure that they remain a core focus in combat—a problem for the fireteam’s survivability that needs to be addressed with urgency.” Continually, the suspend duration will last five seconds instead of the previous eight seconds against run-of-the-mill enemies and only three seconds against champion characters. Ability regeneration for suspend from Thread of Mind and Thread of Generation has also been reduced.
With the new nerfs to the suspend ability, hopefully Destiny 2 PVP will feel more fair and enjoyable.
