Destiny 2‘s next expansion, The Witch Queen, is on the way, but we still don’t have much information on what this update will bring. However, Destiny’s official twitter page has confirmed that something big is being revealed August 24th. The tweet is covered in the smoke and lighting of The Witch Queen’s art, confirming that news about the upcoming DLC is on the way soon.

This expansion was officially announced last year, but the earlier announcement claimed The Witch Queen would release in 2021. Unfortunately, this expansion most likely won’t release until next year due to complications arising during the pandemic, but if The Witch Queen packs the same quality as Destiny 2’s other expansions, players should be very excited for the official reveal trailer.
Speculation has already began on what the next expansion will add to the game, and this tweet has only added flames to the fire. Rumors of a new subclass, titled “vapor” have been circulating and growing after the art in this tweet showed off some sort of gaseous fumes. Whether the smoke really is teasing new subclasses or just drawn for effect is unknown, but the upcoming Destiny 2 showcase should put plenty of these rumors to rest.
Along with the rumors surrounding “vapor,” Gamespot reports that Bungie, developers behind Destiny, could also be testing destructible environments in the EDZ patrol area for The Witch Queen. Bungie has already teased that players will get the chance to explore Old Chicago, which was cut from the final version of the game. If The Witch Queen Expansion does include destructible environments, it will be the mechanic’s first inclusion in this seven year game. With Bungie’s track record of keeping their game fresh and fun, players should look forward to whatever the developers are looking to introduce.
