It has been less than one month since Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion launched and Bungie has not disappointed Guardians with continual content and hot-fixes. New game modes were revealed like the new player versus player and enemy mode, Gambit, with the mysterious Drifter character. The Last Wish raid was only completed by two fireteams in the first twenty-four hours (with streamer Datto’s team finishing two minutes after the twenty-four hour mark) and has been praised as the most creative and difficult Destiny raid to date on its forums.
This past reset-Tuesday, Bungie treated player versus player Guardians to a new game mode in the Crucible titled Breakthrough. This mode sets two teams of four against each other in a Destiny take on tug-of-war. The first objective requires a team to capture a central point in the map called the Breaker. This location is chaotic because of nearby Heavy Ammo sources and tight quarters around the Breaker point. Once a team controls the Breaker, they must push forward to the opposition’s vault. It is unlocked and the attacking team has roughly two minutes to hack (capture) the vault. If the defense is able to hold off the hackers they are awarded the round, first team to three wins. Bungie has released four new multiplayer maps to accompany Breakthrough.

The end-game area called the Dreaming City has been undergoing changes from the enemy Taken forces week by week since Forsaken’s release. Bungie has stated that these stages will come each week for three weeks and then revert back. We find out why after Guardians discovered Destiny 2’s first ever dungeon. The activity can be completed with a maximum fireteam of three in the Awoken Queen Mara Sov’s Ascendant Realm. The dungeon is a trying activity, with enemies reaching recommended Power levels that are higher than the raid. Familiar raid symbols are scattered around the Realm, making the dungeon feel like a mini-raid in itself.
The three week rotation of increased Taken energy is exposed by the particular boss fight at the end of the dungeon and the conversation that you have with the Queen in her Throne Realm after the weekly Oracle Offering bounty (Yes! She is alive!). It seems the completion of the Last Wish raid has initiated a wish from cunning and dark source that will plague the Awoken homeland.
