Destiny 2 Halloween Event “Festival of the Lost” Announced

With Halloween right around the corner, popular games are launching their Halloween events, and Destiny 2 is no outlier. Yesterday, Bungie announced the Festival of the Lost event, which kicks off October 16, complete with new gear, new events, and even a murder mystery! Players may remember Festival of the Lost as the Halloween event from the original Destiny, where candy obtained by killing baddies in PvE activities and the Crucible could be exchanged for themed items, such as Halloween consumables and masks.

The event ran for two seasons in the original Destiny but was not revived for the first Halloween in Destiny 2. Communications Director at Bungie, David Dague, broke the news to fans around this time last year on Twitter that the event would not run in 2017. The good news is Festival of the Lost is back this year with new masks and activities to quell the Halloween fanaticism in us all. A new currency will be introduced, called Fragmented Souls, awarded with the completion of daily bounties during the event. The Fragmented Souls can then be traded in for event masks and even a Legendary auto rifle, appropriately named “Horror Story.” We can expect to see a bunch of new, spooky masks much like the Skull Mask from the original Festival of the Lost event in 2015 pictured below.

A new event called the Haunted Forest will be available in 15-minute increments, the goal being to get as far as possible within that time. Greater rewards (and more difficult enemies) await the brave Guardians the deeper into the forest they go. Finally, Halloween just wouldn’t be the same without a murder or two. The victim: Master Ives, who players may remember as the Vestian Outpost Cryptarch in the Reef from the original Destiny. Can you solve the mystery and find the killer?

The Festival of Lost Souls event begins October 16 and runs through November 6.
