Arriving in November, the latest expansion in the popular Destiny series has been announced. Featuring gameplay footage that gave us a glimpse of some of the newest weapons, abilities, and a new subclass available, Beyond Light will be the 6th major DLC for Destiny 2. According to an official description for the expansion, “A new power is born out of the ancient Pyramid Ship above Europa’s frozen frontier, and a dark empire has risen beneath, united under the banner of the Fallen Kell of Darkness, Eramis. Join your fellow Guardians and bring down the empire at any cost – even if it means wielding the Darkness itself.” The announcement comes as a part of the recent partnership between Microsoft and previous Halo developer Bungie. The studio has announced that Destiny 2 and its Beyond Light expansion will be coming to Xbox Games Pass in November at no additional costs to pass holders.
A new elemental power titled Stasis has also been revealed as a part of the expansion, “Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters each use Stasis in a different way, from slowing down foes with Stasis fields to encasing and shattering enemies with destructive might.” Players will be able to utilize the freezing abilities of Stasis to complete new raids set on the icy moon Europa in deep, dormant stone crypts. Players will need to work together as the “final plan is set in motion”, unlocking new weapons, and cosmetics. The announcement of Beyond Light has come with a new Snapchat filter for the game that readers can check out below.

Along with the announcement of the new DLC, Bungie has announced that all previous Destiny 2 DLC will be included with all copies of Destiny 2 for Xbox Games Pass users. Initially rescheduled the game’s official launch from September to November 10th due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company announced that due to difficulties for game development caused by the pandemic, the official release of Destiny 2 would need to be delayed by a few months. A special “Stranger” special edition has also been announced for the DLC, which includes a 10″ Stranger statue. Despite the development difficulties, Destiny 2’s Beyond Light DLC will be launching in November, and more information, including pre-order information, can be found on the official website.
