Fans of minerals, bug-squashing, and beer breath can rejoice, as a new season of content for the Dwarven co-op horde shooter Deep Rock Galactic looks to be burrowing to the surface Q1 of 2026. Developers Ghost Ship Games wrapped up their broadcast today showcasing what’s next for both them and the Deep Rock franchise; and there was a pleasant surprise when they revealed that they would be pushing out the new season for the game before the early-access release of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. On that note, there is slightly bad news for that title, as apparently it will be delayed to Q2 of 2026. All of this comes as an interesting turn of events because as the developers state in their Steam community announcement:
For a while now we’ve said that we won’t be looking at Season 06 until we get Rogue Core out in Early Access. That wasn’t exactly true.
Ghost Ship Games explain that they were actively working on the season, but didn’t want to mess with player’s expectations by announcing something they couldn’t deliver on. According to them, it’s been difficult trying to make progress on their new title Rogue Core and legacy content for Deep Rock Galactic at the same time with their limited staff and resources. Which is why the developers announced that they have enlisted the help of neighboring developer Invisible Walls to get Season 6 delivered. It doesn’t seem likely that there’ll be any change in quality or direction due to this collaboration, as both in the announcement post and the broadcast Ghost Ship Games practically wax poetic about their positive relationship with the developers, and it sounds like there’s a lot of mutual trust. Mikkel Pedersen, the director of Deep Rock, proclaims in the broadcast around 12:20 about the two devs’ work together: “You’re gonna see some amazing stuff!”
The new season for Deep Rock Galactic is called Relics of Hoxxes, and is themed around a discovery in planet Hoxxes of an environment filled with the fossilized remains of an old species and the incursion of their descendants, the Ossirians. And based on the announcement notes, that means a new procedurally generated biome to stomp around in, two new alien enemies to squash, and two new missions to attempt. The developers have also teased a new battlepass, emotes, and “other cool stuff.” It should be mentioned that all of Season 6, including the battlepass, will be completely free for owners of the game when it eventually comes out.

Pitching over to Ghost Ship Games’ new entry to the Deep Rock universe, there was some tantalizing new information divulged during the broadcast concerning the upcoming roguelite Rogue Core–see what they did there? The developers showcased a shocking development to a game series that has been staunchly four-player co-op with four playable classes since its inception; a fifth class! Retcon, as she is called by the devs, is an aggressive, time-bending addition to the Deep Rock crew who looks to spice up both gameplay and class picks in players’ runs of the game. And besides this exciting news, Ghost Ship Games also confirmed an expansion of class abilities, new and lethal-er weaponry, and of course an overview of their plans for the games’ future, including additional development time in Q1 of next year to polish Rogue Core before its release.
