Dedicated Fans Recreate P.T. for the PC

Despite how excited we all are for Death Stranding, some fans are still mourning the Silent Hill game that never was. All that gamers will ever have to remember it by is P.T. The playable teaser to Silent Hills was never meant to be more than an elaborate reveal of the trailer, but its intense scares and intricate attention to detail give it standing as a successful horror game in its own right.

P.T. was removed from the PlayStation Store shortly after the announcement that Silent Hills was cancelled. Gaming fans are nothing if not determined and now two users have gone on to recreate the horror experience for the PC.

The first is brought to us by SmoggyChips, who used the Unreal Engine 4 to painstakingly recreate P.T. in his own horror game called Corridors. It remains in early access, so expect some bugs if you decide to check it out. The creator is actually looking to expand the game with additional levels and his own content. You can see what it looks like below:

The second remake is from Reddit user LinusPixel, who has been posting teases of his progress and his process. His strategy has been to take textures and animations from the original games files and attempt to piece them back together in new engine. This version is also a work in progress, but it is available on itch.io in its earliest form. You can also view a couple of progress images here.

While everyone else involved in Silent Hills has moved on to new projects, it seems fans aren’t quite ready to let it go. If you loved P.T. keep an eye on both of these recreations as they develop.
