LEVEL-5 has delayed its futuristic detective RPG DECAPOLICE once again, moving the game to 2027 after several years of development. The announcement came during the company’s September 10, 2026 LEVEL-5 VISION 2026 II “Dream” presentation, where LEVEL-5 also showed a new trailer for the game. DECAPOLICE is now scheduled for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, according to the game’s current official website.
The latest postponement follows multiple previous delays. DECAPOLICE was originally scheduled for 2023 before LEVEL-5 moved it to 2024 in November 2023. In September 2024, the company delayed the game again to 2026 while also announcing PC version. The latest announcement now moves the release into 2027. LEVEL-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said the team knows the game is taking time to complete but wants to deliver a “truly unique gameplay experience.” DECAPOLICE stars Harvard Marks, the leader of the Special Investigations Unit’s rookie team, as he investigates crimes in Broadstone through Decasim, a virtual recreation of the city containing memories of past crimes.
Players investigate recreated crime scenes, gather evidence, question suspects and organize their findings on a case board before identifying the culprit. Investigations can also lead to confrontations in which criminals may transform into monsters known as Crime Beasts, bringing turn-based combat into the detective-focused gameplay. LEVEL-5 is also collaborating with SCRAP, a company known for real-world escape games and immersive puzzle experiences, to develop case concepts for DECAPOLICE. The “Three Mafioso Murders” case featured in the latest presentation was developed from one of SCRAP’s original concepts.
Despite the delay, the project remains active. LEVEL-5 will bring a playable version of DECAPOLICE to Tokyo Game Show 2026, which takes place September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. By the time DECAPOLICE launches, the game will have spent several years in development and gone through multiple changes to its release schedule and platform lineup. For now, however, LEVEL-5 is continuing to refine its unusual combination of detective work, virtual-world investigation and RPG combat rather than putting the project on hold indefinitely.
The wait for DECAPOLICE continues, but the new trailer and upcoming Tokyo Game Show demo suggest LEVEL-5 is still actively working toward its revised 2027 release.
