

Just today, the IGN YouTube channel posted an official reveal trailer for the new game Deadcam, developed by Joure Visser. There is no official release date for the game as of yet, but according to the Steam page, it is coming soon to Early Access on June 23rd. As of now, players can wishlist the game on PC through Steam. It has yet to be said if the game will also come to consoles.
Through the trailer it shows the main antagonist of the game, speaking to the main character who is holding a camera. She speaks to the protagonist about getting her revenge and how the player is the last one she needs to defeat in order to successfully get revenge. It cuts to gameplay footage of the player defending themselves against the ghost. At the very end of the trailer, it announces the Early Access release date as well as the first file players will be experiences, titled Hitomi.
Deadcam is an upcoming analogue-survival-horror game that is inspired by the 80s and 90s, and the game is based on found footage media. According to the Steam page, “Deadcam leans heavily into the gritty horror aesthetics of the 1980’s and 90’s and takes inspiration from classic J-horror movies as well as American horror and slasher movies presented in a VHS style presentation.”
Players will be able to explore and experience different short stories that are presented as “recordings,” each recording set in different settings and locations, and a new mystery for the player to unravel. In each file players will be experience comes with its own survival challenges and backstory. Each recording could either be action packed or place the player into a horrific experience.
The developers also warn players as describing their content to have thematic themes such as suicide, and general depictions of gore and violence- anything that relates to psychological horror.
