Team Ninja and it’s developers announced during a live stream earlier today that they are officially ending support for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round. The game has received a good amount of DLC support since it’s release back in 2015 but it looks like Team Ninja is finally closing the curtain on this one. And not only that the during the stream the development team also announced that they were stepping away from the Dead or Alive series as a whole for the time being, and in the meantime they will explore other options for their next big project.
Team Ninja initially created the Dead or Alive series in 1996 and has made many entries within the franchise since then. They will use this time away from the series to focus on their future plans so the developer stated that we might not hear from them for quite some time. The studio stated, “Dead or Alive 5 has finally come to an end, but the Dead or Alive team is very active,” the developer explained. “It is time to stop what we are doing for now and look into the future.”
Some longtime fans of the Dead or Alive series might be a little upset that they are ending support of their most recent title as well as stepping away from the franchise for a bit, but at least they can be confident that the development team is aiming to bring something new and exciting for fans to enjoy sometime in the future.
