Dead Drop Studios has been working on its newest shooter, Outbreak, for a while now. Surprisingly though, the game is set to be released in only five days. The top down survival horror was inspired by titles like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The story begins with an unknown series of events happening following a government funded research project that ultimately leads to a mysterious outbreak.
Explore a nightmarish environment, scrounge for supplies, and battle the undead in Outbreak — an online co-op survival horror game. The clock never stops as you attempt to manage an extremely limited inventory with a murderous horde on the hunt. Choose between acquiring additional weapons, healing items, or necessary tools for progression. You have only one life. Make it count!
There will be four playable characters of which naturally have there own well thought out backstory to how they came to be fighting together. Just kidding, they are four strangers who are forced into becoming allies in the wake of the outbreak who must work together to fight off hordes of the undead. As you progress through the game you will eventually learn who, or what, was the cause for the event. Dead Drop Studios claim that there should be virtually no connection issues when playing multiplayer due to the servers being cloud based. Below you can find a small bit of information about each character.
- Mason– Seasoned police officer, Increased damage resistance, Starts with a pistol.
- Alendra– Computer scientist and engineer, Takes more damage, Starts with a lockpick.
- Ethan– Bioscience college student, Regenerates health faster, Starts with a healing item.
- Quies– Paralegal, Larger inventory than the others, Can’t combine healing salves
What sets the game apart from others is the fact that players will enter the game with limited inventory space, no pausing, plethora of challenging puzzles… Oh yeah, and you only get one life. Thats right, if you die its over, you don’t get to start back right where you were. To make things easier for everyone, the developers of the game made sure to allow support of Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers.
Some of the enemies that players can look forward to fighting include flaming monstrosities and poisonous undead canines. But don’t fret, players will have a plethora of weapons to use on the undead enemies that they can expect to find scattered around the facility such as pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, axes, knives, climbing picks, and even grenade launchers. There is also a trading feature to help your teammates out, or more importantly, so they can help you out.
The game will be released on Steam on January 17th for a small price of $10.94, which is 30% off the usual retail price of $14.99. This reduced price will only last until January 24th, so if you think the games for you then best get a copy while its on sale.
