While Dead Cells had an animated trailer for the game’s release, this animated series adaptation titled “Dead Cells: The Animated Series” will be composed of ten episodes, each one about seven minutes long. The series will have a limited release in France before its international, worldwide release. The same animation studio that did the animated trailer for the game – Bobbypills – will be a co-producer on the show. The series is also in partnership with Animation Digital Network, a France-based anime streaming service.
Though the content of the animated series may deviate slightly from its original game source, Motion Twin has assured fans that the basic storyline should be the same as its game where the main character is a reanimated corpse attempting to escape an island prison.
Dead Cells, although a game released over half a decade ago, still has constant expansion packs in the form of DLC updates, some with collaborative crossovers such as the Castlevania DLC released in 2023. The action platformer game also has free content updates in addition to the DLC. As of 2024, the game has over 100,000 reviews on Steam.
During the day of this article’s publication (May 16th, 2024), the game is 50% off on Steam, totaling the price to $12.49 USD.
