In a series of new update posts on the Dead by Daylight website, Behaviour Interactive has revealed new details on cross-progression, a new game mode, and the next Tome coming to the game. The new details came in tandem with the new 8.1.0 update for the game, as well as the release of the new Lara Croft DLC and Tome 20: Mythic, on July 16. Some features, such as the 2v8 mode and cross-progression, are set to release later this month.
The new 2v8 mode will be arriving July 25th, allowing players to pair up as killers for the first time to take on a larger group of survivors. The new mode will feature new character abilities, an updated hook system, and updated gameplay features, with more information to be revealed in the coming weeks. Cross-progression, meanwhile, will be arriving on all systems (with limited capabilities for Nintendo Switch users) on July 22. Switch users will be able to utilize shared progression and inventory, but not DLC or paid currency. Cross-progression can be enabled by logging into your Behaviour Interactive account and linking your corresponding system accounts online. Behaviour has released a graphic breaking down what’s coming to cross-progression for each system, which you can find here:
Behaviour Interactive also breaks down what players can experience with the new Mythic Tome:
Progress through the Rift and beyond, completing brand-new gameplay Challenges, unlocking Charms, and earning mythical Outfits for Yui Kimura, The Spirit, The Clown, David King, Sable Ward, and the latest newcomer to The Fog: Lara Croft
The tome comes with new challenges to complete, progressing players further along the Tome’s progression path. Challenges include character-specific tasks for Yui Kimura and The Spirit, as well as more general challenges. There are also new memories to unlock in the Tome, as well as Tomb Raider-themed charms. These come in line with the release of the new DLC pack Dead by Daylight: Tomb Raider, which features a new survivor, the iconic adventurer Lara Croft, as well as an exclusive charm, the Climbing Axe Charm. Additional skins for Lara Croft can be unlocked in the store or via Tome and Rift.
The 8.1.0 update also brings new changes and balances across the game. Updates to killers The Singularity and The Knight, as well as the killer perks Darkness Revealed, I’m All Ears, Trail of Torment, Machine Learning, Dragon’s Grip, and Oppression, have been implemented. Edits to the survivor perks Autodidact, Empathic Connection, Iron Will, Resurgence, Solidarity, and Babysitter have also been added, along with map layout changes to Mount Yamaoka and Mount Ormond. And in a new change to gameplay, now, whenever a Survivor is sacrificed, broken hooks will respawn after a duration. The new 8.1.0 update, as well as the new Tomb Raider DLC, are available on all platforms now.
