Dead By Daylight Halloween Event “Haunted By Daylight” Launches

As expected for an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, Dead By Daylight went all out for the Halloween season. The annual Halloween event, titled Haunted By Daylight, launched October 18, 2023 and will conclude November 6, 2023.

This year’s event adds the “Void Realm,” a world within the Entity’s Realm that is home to Haunts. Described as “memories of the discarded,” Haunts are what’s left of a Survivor when they lose all hope to escape the perpetual torture that are Trials, or when a Killer loses the urge to hunt. Dead By Daylight Creative Director Dave Richard stated the Void Realm was born as the in-game version of limbo. “We wanted to create a place that evokes the concept of a fate worse than an endless cycle of death and suffering,”  Richard said, “Wouldn’t it be horrifying if the only way really escape the Trials was to be completely drained of all emotions, only to end up in another nightmare?”

The Void Realm adds a new gameplay aspect into Dead By Daylight. Players can collect Void Energy through various gameplay, such as finishing generators or hooking a survivor, and place them into Unstable Rifts to create Rifts into the Void Realm. Players can then enter the Void Realm and give Haunts Void Energy. Once a Haunt is fully powered, they can be released into the main map and give the player buffs. Of course, if the opposing team releases a Haunt, players will be given disadvantages as well.

The Halloween event also comes with a new Event Tome where players can complete challenges for Bloodpoints, XP and the new currency Dark Trinkets. Dark Trinkets can be used to purchase limited-time cosmetics for both Killers and Survivors. These cosmetics are only available for the Halloween season, so missing out means having to wait another year!
