Dead by Daylight Adds Chapter X: Darkness Among Us

The first tease came as a question after the last chapter added to Dead by Daylight: will there be another chapter after this? The second came as a few tweets from the official Dead by Daylight Twitter, showcasing a snowy cabin, and the next day, an image of a masked man staring at himself in the mirror.

The first question was answered just by the two images alone, as it was only a matter of time before Behaviour Digital Inc. made the next move. During the Games Awards, they finally revealed that they would be adding a new chapter to Dead by Daylight titled, ‘Darkness Among Us’. And along with it was the trailer to show off the upcoming Killer:

Darkness Among Us is the tenth chapter to be added to Dead By Daylight since its release back in 2016 and the most recent addition since the last event. But, the new addition feels right at home. Darkness Among Us brings in a new Killer known as The Legion, a new survivor named Jeff Johansen, and finally the new map, Mount Ormond Resort.

The new killer, The Legion, comes with new perks that allow him to see, for a short period of time, a generator that has two or more survivors working on it. This can get him the upper hand against many players and be able to divide and conquer. The other two perks allow for better control over the survivors. One lets him suffer no cool downs when he’s carrying a survivor, and the other makes it so he unlocks closets faster before a survivor can escape. And when everything is fully charged, he has the power of his Feral Frenzy, which allows him to go into a rage that lets him sprint and jump over obstacles, but makes him lose some of his sight in the process. All in all, a terrifying addition to the killer line-ups.

The new survivor, Jeff Johansen, is “an artist with a heart of gold.” He got himself lost in The Fog when he got a message his father had passed, and he wound up in the Entity’s game of cat and mouse. He comes with three new perks as well that allow for an interesting take on a supportive character. The first of his three perks allows him to see the killer for a short period of time after unhooking himself or sabotaging a hook. The next one creates a bond between another survivor that allows him to see where they are, to come in need of aid, or guide them to him when he’s in trouble. The last perk allows him to start a trial with three tokens. If he gets into a situation where he needs help, then the perk goes off, a token is consumed, and the killer can’t see him for the time being.

The final new addition is the Mount Ormond Resort. This new location was once a coal mining operation that came to an abrupt stop due to the controversial nature of the mining. Because of its abandonment there have been rumors surfacing around it, including that of a bottomless hole in which no one returns. The frosty and icy nature of the map is not entirely unseen by Dead by Daylight players, but it is one welcomed during the current season.

Deady by Daylight: Darkness Among Us is currently available for $6.99 USD and is live on the servers.
