On February 13th, 2025, Dawnfolk officially launched and is available for purchase. Players who are interested in the game can download it through Steam, and those who would like to check out the game before purchasing the full game can still download the demo that launched prior to the official game release. Players can purchase the full game for $14.99, but as of now the game is 15% off, leaving it at $12.74.
Dawnfolk is a 2D city builder game that tells the story of a ruler, who the player plays as, of a kingdom lost to the shadows. The ruler’s goal is to save the people of the kingdom, and the mythical creature called “Luneur” will light the way towards this goal.
Here is what the Steam page has to say about some of the gameplay of the game, “In Dawnfolk, you will explore an uncharted medieval fantasy world, manage resources, build cities, and survive against many dangers.” and “every choice matters as you explore different strategies and play styles in Dawnfolk.”
There are a few features to Dawnfolk that can help players gather resources to build their kingdom. There will be minigames that can help players gather those resources, and the more resources they get, the more likely the kingdom will “weather the darkness,” as said on Steam.
According to the Steam page, they took into a count that players cannot spend hundreds of hours to learn how to play a strategy game, so players can dive right into this game and start building their kingdom right away. The Steam page also said, “Dawnfolk was designed to feel familiar, yet unlike any building strategy game you’ve ever played before.”
It is up to the player about what happens to the kingdom and their people. “Will you turn a blind eye to impending disasters, or will you face them head-on? How will you handle the tough moral choices that define your legacy? Can you grow and optimize your cities not just survive, but to thrive as a shining beacon for future settlers?”
