Studio Traega, the developer of the game Dawn of Defiance, has just recently released their game’s first major update, “Sisters of the Deep”. The announcement was followed by a development roadmap and an official trailer.

The trailer is a combination of a cinematic trailer and gameplay footage. The trailer features a female background voice speaking of the dangers that will be encountered in the new update. It advertises a new raid, new challenges, a new facility known as the Hephaestus Forge, new weapons, new gear, new quests, and new fauna.

The trailer directly showcases the weapons Athena’s Solarium, Apollo’s golden bow, and Are’s Impetum. The new gear showcased includes one new armor set, a new staff, a form of sickle, and a new sword. The new quests include Hephasteus’s Shrine, Apollo’s Shrine, and Are’s Shrine. There is also some kind of puzzle showcased in the first half ot the trailer, though its function isn’t clear.

However, it’s possible that the puzzle is part of the new raid or shrine overhaul advertised on the development roadmap page, which suggests that there will be at least four more updates of a similar scale on the way. Other key features of the new update were revealed in a press release for the game. After the player enters the afterlife, they will begin with nothing while being forced to explore the dangers, break seals, and traverse the dangerous natural environment. In exchange for completing those tasks, the player will be granted treasure and power along with crafting recipes.

A key lore point for “Sisters of the Deep” is the fact that Athena’s temple is overrun. However, in order to save it, you will have to defy the gods, though it’s unclear what that means as of now. The guardian of the temple seems to be a Gorgon that must be defeated either alone or in a party of up to four players total.
