Red Hook Studios has recently announced that Darkest Dungeon 2 will receive a free new update on August 28th. The new update will be among the final adventure modules for the game, according to a press release.
The update will introduce the third Kingdom module, known as the Curse of the Court, which will bring the wrath of a new enemy faction known as the Bloodsuckers. These enemies will be vampiric in nature, out to consume the blood of the people. These creatures initially premiered in the Darkest Dungeon’s DLC: The Crimson Court.
The module will build upon the contents of that first DLC by adding three new Kingdom maps for the players to explore, a brand new questline, unique new achievements, and a Curse function that will completely alter the gameplay. Unlike the original Confessions mode, Kingdoms tasks players with defending the realm against enemies, which will be similar to the previous updates, such as Hunger of the Beast Clan and Secrets of the Coven.
“Curse of the Court is the third adventure module for the DD2 Kingdoms mode. Just like the preceding two, this update adds new items, mechanics, and a harmful host of fresh horrors to contend with…all packaged up into yet another FREE update. At this point, the amount of complimentary content packed into Darkest Dungeon II is verging on delinquent! We genuinely hope our players enjoy the return of the Bloodsuckers,” said Chris Bourassa, Creative Director.
The update will first come to PC and Mac, with a console update following in the future, though the time frame is yet to be announced. Darekest Dungeon II: Anniversary Edition has also been revealed by Red Hook Studios and Skybound Games. These will include a Collectible Steelbook, in-game pop-up diorama, papercraft Stagecoach, a playable card deck, original soundtrack, and redemption codes for a number of DLCs.
