Dark Souls 3 Helps Bandai Namco Post Profit

Although the sales report was not officially disclosed, Bandai Namco said that Dark Souls III earned favorable sales which allowed them to boost the earning projections. In their news release they stated that “For home video game software in the Network Entertainment Business, in North America and Europe, sales were favorable for the new title Dark Souls III, repeat titles, and titles owned by other companies sold utilizing the Company’s sales network.” Through these many sales, Bandai was able to thrive this year based on the popularity of a single game!

As of May there were 3 million copies of the game being sent out, but as of now that number probably has increased substantially. From the table that GameSpot collected below, you can see that the revenue and profit increased after the release of Dark Souls III so while the game might not be credited with all the increase, there is no doubt that it played a major role in it. Although the game is known to be one of the hardest games out on the market, it is clear that a lot of people still buy it and enjoy it from the numbers below and from all of the good reviews and streams out there.

Because of the seen increase in the last quarter, Bandai has decided to change their projected amount of profit in the next quarter. The changes are rater large in most areas so only time will tell how close these revisions are to the actual differences. These changes can be seen below in a chart that was on Bandai Namco’s news release. It is amazing to see how much of an impact one game that is known to be really difficult and frustrating can make for a company. Dark Souls III is out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One so having it available to these many consoles could have assisted its overall popularity and sales.
