A brand new video game studio has appeared, this time in Warsaw, Poland. Going by the name Dark Passenger, the studio is mostly comprised of veterans from another well-known Polish-based company, CD Projekt Red, specifically developers who worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The studio also announced that they were already well into the early stages for their first IP, which will take place in feudal Japan, and are also hiring for said project.
The website, when translated from Polish to English, states that they’ve been working on their first IP for the past two years and is now “currently in the first production phase.” The game is also described as an online FPS action title, with elements of a multiplayer co-op PvE and competitive PvP aspect. As we mentioned, the game’s setting will take place in feudal Japan following the arrival of an “unnamed invader” who takes the throne of the country from the Shogun. Players will take on the roles of a shinobi and kunoichi, and will be able to act like an actual ninja by “jump on city rooftops, hide under the floors of country cottages, climb pagodas, or sneak unnoticed among shrines and temples.”
Dark Passenger also states that the game will target multiple systems for its eventual release. This includes the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Interestingly enough, the community is already comparing this incomplete project to another title, Ghost of Tsushima, specifically, the multiplayer Legends Mode. Whether the final product will actually resemble the latter is anyone’s guess, but the fact that former developers from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are working on this only makes us even more excited. Hopefully, they’ll have some more news for us in the foreseeable future.
