Dangerous Golf is a Destructive Golf Game from the Makers of Burnout

Just when you think everything has been done in gaming, something comes along that is so wonderfully ridiculous that you can’t help but be interested.  Dangerous Golf is a new game by Three Fields Entertainment, the studio behind the Burnout series, and is a mix between a golf game, a physics puzzle game, and Boom Blox (anyone play that?).  The player takes a swing at a golf ball and tries to break as many things as possible in locales such as a restaurant kitchen or an elegant ballroom.

Players will have to gather up as much points as possible by causing as much destruction as they can.  If they cause enough destruction, they can get a fire-ball which ricochets and explodes on everything it touches.  The game has some elements of a puzzle game in it as you have to plan your shots accordingly to get the most points.  Dangerous Golf has over 100 levels in four different locales, all of which use a powerful physics engine to give the objects a sense of weight and realism.

Dangerous Golf also features a two player co-op mode and 8 player online and offline modes.  The four locales in the game are a Kitchen in America, a Castle in England, a Palace in France, and the Australian Outback.  A lot of focus has been put on the game’s physics engine, which has glass shattering into hundreds of pieces and paint splattering against the walls.  It’s a simple idea, but one that is just fun to watch.

Being the developers for the Burnout series, Dangerous Golf shares a lot of similarities with Burnout 2’s “crash mode.”  In this mode players were encouraged to crash their car, and then they could see the destruction in slow motion with a glorious physics engine.  Dangerous Golf shares Burnout’s appetite for destruction, and even allows you to go slow-mo during your hits to really see the damage you’re causing.

Dangerous Golf is set to release on June 3rd for Xbox One, PS4, and Steam.  Dangerous Golf doesn’t have a publisher, and the game has been paid for out of the developers pockets.  Dangerous Golf isn’t like something we’ve seen lately, which is a good thing.  Rocket League proves that even today a game with a crazy premise can still be successful as long as it’s fun.  Dangerous Golf is definitely something to look out for, because there is such a primitive pleasure in watching so many expensive things getting destroyed.
