
Players interested in looking for a new thriller game that is story rich with a dash of the supernatural should wishlist Curse of the Crimson Stag. In this singleplayer investigation, players must uncover why the once thriving Whiteroot Hotel has been abandoned.
Players personify Brit, a teenger who feels stuck in her hometown and is eager to jump into a life-changing experience. She decides to assist with a documentary about the hotel, located in the American Northwest. The locals believe the cause of its abandonment has to do with rumors of ghostly hauntings and angry spirits.
The publishers, Daedalic Entertainment, recently posted a Gameplay trailer that leaves viewers with an ominous message that “he” is real and has always been real. Gameplay reveals sections of the abandoned hotel from it’s luxurious walkways to it’s eerie darkened corridors.
The trailer also reveals an evidence board, where players can tie together what they know and what the uncover along their investigation. Brit is shown using a video camera that distorts once coming across a stag painting with chilling symbols.
Brit encounters strange wooden crosses with stag skulls mounted on the center. A distorted voice attempts to speak with her, revealing that this being is aware of her presence. There are also moments where the unexplainable happens, such as wisps that float away from her and creating an air of mystery.
Whiteroot Hotel’s story begins normal enough. A wealthy businessman built it to increases tourism in the area, but a series of mysterious deaths caused its downfall. The locals believe that the Crimson Stag, a spirit that inhabits the dark woods, must be tied to these deaths and hauntings somehow. However, the hotel will not give it’s secrets up quietly and the curse threatens to claim Brit as another unnatural death.
Curse of the Crimson Stag is set to come out sometime in 2026, though no set date has been revealed. It will be available on Steam and for the PlayStation 5. However, the developers do plan on releasing the game for the XBOX Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch.
