Arguably the most unique visuals of the year goes to the indie run n’ gun game called Cuphead, which just released on Xbox One and PC this past Friday. As of today it’s sitting at a solid 86 Metacritic score, based on the reviews of 35 critics, making it not just one of the most interesting-looking games available, but one of the best-reviewed games of 2017 so far. So it’s no surprise that Cuphead has already sold over 120,000 Units on Steam in just 3 days since release. However, players have been reporting a significant issue with the PC version.
Oh, by the way, Cuphead on PC has a bug where it decides not to save any of your progress at random times. Confirmed with another reviewer.

In the Cuphead subreddit, and in the user review section on the Windows store, there have been reports of a glitch that deletes save files on the Windows 10 version of the game. This sounds especially frustrating since the levels and bosses are already extremely difficult, so any progress lost is a major deal. Studio MDHR, the developers of Cuphead, have already reached out to Reddit user Wicked Jeti regarding a temporary fix stating,
There is a temporary workaround, which is to avoid using ALT-Tab to leave the game for any amount of time. Apparently it disconnects the game from being able to save any further progress. Hopefully knowing that, you can avoid this issue until we are able to send a patch.
Why exiting via alt-tab deletes save files remains unknown, but at least the developers have a beat on what causes the issue. There’s also no timeline for a fix, so if you’re looking to play Cuphead anytime in the near future, especially on Windows 10, be careful of the Alt-Tab function. Which, if you’re a multi-tasker like me, is easier said than done.
