Cuphead Gets a Physical Release This December

Studio MDHR has finally let the cat out of the bag for the Cuphead physical release date. The studio has announced that the extremely popular 2D side scroller will indeed have a physical release last month, and now we have an official date; December 6. This will be the very first time that fans will be able to own the title in a non-digital form, as it has been a digital-only entry since it launched back in 2017. Studio MDHR has also partnered up with iam8bit for a special collectors edition that houses some cool extras, albeit with a later release in 2023.

The physical edition of Cuphead will be releasing for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Due to the backwards compatibility of the PlayStation 5, ad the Smart Delivery system of the Xbox Series X/Series S, the game will be playable on both of those systems as well. Studio MDHR lists both Target and Best Buy as official retailers, but other online shops such as Amazon will also more than likely be carrying the physical release of the game.

As for that collector’s edition, it’s being released exclusively through iam8bit, and is jam-packed with some amazing Cuphead collectibles. It comes with the full game, as well as The Delicious Last Course DLC, an 8″ tall handcrafted marionette of Cuphead which has been handcrafted by the Artisans at Rici Marionettes in Prague. It also has a hand crank musical box, six original Cuphead “Funnies” which are special art cards, a foldout map of Inkwell Isles, a special game sleeve, and a special box that is made for utilizing the marionette.

The collector’s edition will cost $199, and as we already mentioned is exclusive to iam8bit which you can check out here. A friendly reminder that this edition won’t release until sometime in Q1 2023. The regular physical release of Cuphead will launch on December 6.
