Cuphead Event Coming To Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Weekend

Fans of both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Cuphead may be happy to hear that a special Cuphead Event is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this weekend. According to a tweet by Studio MDHR, gamers will be able to enjoy five days of Cuphead themed fun in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate including four special battles and collectible spirits.

As is stated in the tweet above, players will be able to participate in four battles based on scenarios from the game Cuphead. In these battles, players can receive four spirits based on the titular character Cuphead as well as several other characters including Mugman, King Dice, and The Devil who can be used in both Custom Smash Mode and in Adventure Mode. If players are feeling extra festive for the Cuphead event, they can purchase a Cuphead skin which can be equipped to the Mii Gunner character swapping his character model for Cuphead’s. The Cuphead skin was released at the same time as the fifth DLC character Byleth, which, according to Gamespot, garnered some dissaproval from fans because of the large amount of Fire Emblem characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Director of Smash Ultimate Masahiro Sakurai agreed with the fan discontent stating “here are too many Fire Emblem characters. And there are too many sword characters. I, too, understand.”

While little more is known about the event at the moment, it is likely that more information will be revealed at a later date. In the meantime, players can pre-order the Volume 2 Fighter Pass right now and get a heads up when the next wave of DLC fighters are released on December 31st, 2021.
