Cultist Simulator Heads to iOS and Android This Spring

Weather Factory, the creators behind Sunless Seas and Fallen London, first released Cultist Simulator on PC back in May of 2018. It was well received with its unique style, odd card gameplay, and atmospheric horrors. With it still standing at Mostly Positive on Steam, the game seemed to leave an impression on people. Then, Alexis Kennedy, the creator, decided that she would move the game to a new system. Check out the trailer below:

Cultist Simulator is a rather bizarre mixture of different types of themes and styles: a horror survival narrative card game loosely based on Lovecraftian tale, and that might only be scraping the surface.

Players take on the role of, well, anyone. An artist, a detective, an escort, anything their heart desires and anyone they want to be. With this, players have to survive through the game to delve into the occult. Using specific types of action cards and combining them with location or people cards, players can uncover secrets and quests that lead them further down the path of whichever cult they’re searching for. Once the cult is found, the game begins to get weird.

This is the point when the Lovecraft entities and beings can come into play, either aiding you to build the cult, to feed on it, or to murder others. Or, in certain and many cases, they kill you, after which you can then start a new chapter with new stories, characters, and quests. It’s a whole lot of cosmological horror that just seems to get darker and deeper the more you play.

The mobile version of Cultist Simulator has been developed by Playdigious and will be available for iOS and Android systems sometime in Spring 2019. It’s currently available for pre-purchase at $4.99 USD. If the pre-order window is missed, it will be available for $6.99 USD after.
