Cult of The Lamb: Woolhaven Story DLC Release Date & Details

Although yet another entry in the currently sprawling sea of roguelites, Cult of The Lamb satisfied a unique niche for fans of the genre back in 2022 with its unique blend of run-based progression, base-building, and stylized art direction that inspired adoration and horror simultaneously. It’s been three years since then, and just today publisher Devolver Digital has confirmed the release date for what will be first-ever story expansion for the game, Woolhaven. The festive(ish) DLC won’t arrive before the end of the holiday season, unfortunately, but come January 22nd of 2026, players can become the unholy titular Lamb once more and embark on a quest to discover his homeland and keep his loyal flock from a frosty grave.

Developer Massive Monster has promised solid gamut of content for Woolhaven, which is story-wise a direct sequel to the main game. As such, you’ll likely have to brave the base four main bosses before getting to the goodies of the DLC, but once you do, it looks like you’ll be in for a treat. If you’ve ever wondered in the course of playing how come The Lamb seems to be the only of his kind in a world chalk-full of animals, Woolhaven will have the answer.

A new god has decided to meddle (foolishly) with your flock and domain, dropping the temperature of the world and covering it in snow. Their name is Yngya, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to deal with them in order to find the truth of The Lamb’s origin, rebuild his civilization, and guide its lost souls. To do this, you’ll have to both summit and plunge into a mountain in two new dungeons; the snow capped peaks of Ewefall, and the gore smothered caverns of The Rot. These dungeons will have new bosses, new enemies, new weapons, and new quests dolled out by figures of questionable intentions, so there will be plenty to enjoy the simple but sleek combat Cult of The Lamb provides.

After your blood lust is sated, you’ll need to turn your attention to the needs of your flock–not for their sake of course, rather so that you can exploit them. Along with other new buildings and decorations, you’ll have access to powerful assets like the Exorcism Altar, which lets you change your followers’ traits, and the Work Tent, which lets you maximize your followers’ productivity. You’ll also be tasked with keeping your flock warm and joyous in the face of Yngya’s icy wrath back at your base. Due to the inclement weather, farming will no longer be a resource you can depend on, so you’ll need to explore the brand new ranching system added by the DLC instead. After learning the ancient art of husbandry from The Lamb’s ancestors, you’ll be able to rear, shear, butcher and ride your very own livestock. Just don’t think too hard about the idea of a colony of animals ranching other animals. Although considering that cannibalism is already a viable survival strategy in the game it’s not that far-fetched of an idea.

So don your best and warmist cultish attire, and prepare to face what Devolver calls the “most rewarding” challenge Cult of The Lamb has had yet. Woolhaven is getting closer by the day, and winter is just ramping up.

Julian Ebert: Although I graduated with a major in film, video games hold a special place in my heart. I love games with atmosphere, immersion, and tense gameplay loops, so my favorite games gravitate toward horror and survival shooter greats like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the Resident Evil series. When I’m not enjoying one of those, I like to read science fiction and check movies off of my “to watch” list.
