After dying countless times in Dark Souls, have you ever thought to yourself “Man, this would be a great board game.” Well, you’re weird dream may finally come true, as Bandai Namco has teamed up with Steamforged Games for a board game based on the Dark Souls franchise. Steamforged announced on their website that they would start a Kickstarter campaign for the game during April 2016.
Steamforged games have had great success in the past with crowdfunding board games. Their medieval football game Guildball was able to earn triple its $42,000 dollar campaign. Guildball has a lot of roleplaying elements, some of which may go into the Dark Souls board game.
There is no word yet on when the Kickstarter campaign will start or how exactly Dark Souls will transfer into a board game, but it’s fun to speculate. Will players work as a team of knights against Dungeon bosses? Will the map be like a board or will you need one of those miniature sets you find in Warhammer Stores? We’ll probably have more answers when Dark Souls 3 launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 12th.
