Back in 2016, indie developers Heart Machine had put out their one and only title Hyper Light Drifter. What had started out as a small kickstarter back in 2013, had blown up tenfold when it’s classic 16-bit style and unique narrative had gained the attention of many. And soon enough, it had reached well beyond the original goal. And when it first dropped, it received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans and players alike to the point where it’s deemed as one of the best games out there, as well as a cult classic, and garnering a Netflix TV series. And since it’s popularity (and for good reason), it was recently revealed by one of Heart Machine’s developers, that this cult classic would be coming to iOS systems very soon:

In Hyper Light Drifter players take on the role of a drifter, who collects forgotten knowledge, lost technologies, and broken trinkets. However, the Drifter that players control is plagued by a mysterious illness that is insatiable in its destruction. You search for a cure, or anything to stiffen the plague that ails you. However, the world isn’t necessarily on your side.
The world that the Drifter lives in is empty, and quiet. There aren’t many friendly faces around as most things are out to kill you (before the sickness does). So there’s a lot of tension happening through and through trying to seek out your answer. And because you aren’t at your peak, you can fall at the hands of enemies quite easily if they’re able to overpower you. But you are able to upgrade anything you need to: from weapons, to skills, to finding equipment to adventure deeper into the world you’re exploring.
Hyper Light Drifter is set to come out on July 25 for $4.99 USD on iOS. There’s no talks of an Android version currently, but that may change in the future.
