Critical Damage Studio has announced Tactics Wanderer, a classic-style strategy RPG, for PC via Steam. The game is scheduled to launch between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027. The reveal arrived today, May 21, 2026, alongside trailers in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
The campaign contains 24 chapters and centers on seven main heroes, one drawn from each of the seven kingdoms of the Athelon continent. Each hero advances through three tiers of class progression, and at every tier the player picks one of two paths. More than 40 classes selectable, some of which include support roles that are called Backpackers, Blacksmiths, and Bards. Skill Rings can be equipped on top of a character’s class skills to add further abilities. Critical Damage Studio has split the skill pool between Active and Passive, with Active skills paid for in Mana or Items. Regular weapons have no durability cap and can be utilized through the whole campaign. Masterwork weapons sit at a higher tier, crafted at the Blacksmith, with stronger stats but lose durability over time. Standard mode has no permanent death. Hard Mode uses a Zero Casualty rule, where losing a single unit will end with in a Game Over.
The setting is Athelon, a continent of seven kingdoms that have only recently united after generations of conflict. That peace breaks when an invading force called the Armond, arriving from a land no one in Athelon can identify, refuses diplomacy and lays siege. Athelon’s response is to send expedition forces by sea to find where the Armond originated. A hidden spy is embedded among the heroes, and the broader narrative covers betrayal and political conflict between them.
Critical Damage Studio is a one-person operation run by Akedanai Chotchutiwat, based in Bangkok. In the presskit, Chotchutiwat wrote, “I have poured my passion into creating a nostalgic yet fluid experience, featuring over 40 distinct classes and a gripping narrative.” Critical Damage Studio has also noted that no AI tools were used in producing the game.
The game is available to wishlist now on Steam.
