If anyone was questioning if Activision would eventually take advantage of the recent popularity of Crash Bandicoot, we may finally get our answer. Thanks to a leak by the Taiwan Video Game Ratings Committee, which has since been removed, a brand new game in the franchise looks like it’s currently in the works, going with the name Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. The title’s tongue in cheek humor notwithstanding, it looks like Crash will be traversing through time and space in this yet to be officially announced title.

The rating’s description states that Crash is exploring his native island where he happens upon an ancient mask that was hidden away. Apparently, this mask is a “Quantum Mask” who is acquainted with Crash’s other masked friend Aku-Aku. Eventually, a Quantum Rift starts appearing where “they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible.” As we mentioned earlier, traveling through space and time seems to be the main theme here, along with the also leaked cover art that shows Crash and company riding through these rifts. In addition, when the rating was still on the site, it also showed that the game is releasing for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Interestingly enough, Activision seems to be preparing for an official reveal as they actually sent out a special press-only package that contained a puzzle. Once completed, the puzzle depicts a brand new mask, similar to the aforementioned Aku-Aku, who follows Crash around in every single game. This, alongside the new Taiwan rating almost ensures that we’re in for a brand new Crash Bandicoot game at some point. We’ll just have to wait and see when Activision and company decide to unveil their new project. For the time being, we’ll just have to take a gander at that magnificent cover art.
