Excluding the release of the remastered Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, it has been 10 years since the Crash Bandicoot series has seen any information about a sequel for the classic trilogy. Earlier this month, it was also leaked by a Taiwan rating that a new Crash Bandicoot game was in the works. Today, the fourth main title in the series developed by Toys for Bob, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time has been announced for current and next-gen consoles. Over the past few years, Toys for Bob has been remastering the classic Crash Bandicoot and Spyro trilogies, but today they announced that they have been working on the newest installment in the Crash Bandicoot series that will pick up immediately following the events of Crash Bandicoot: Warped. The story of the newest Crash 4 will also have Crash face off against familiar villains who escaped from the desert island they were doomed to at the end of Warped, including Neo Cortex, Dr. N. Tropy, and Uka Uka.
Crash Bandicoot 4 will give players the choice to play Crash, Coco or potentially Neo Cortex who all have their own special abilities that will allow progression throughout the story. The story of Crash Bandicoot: It’s About Time follows Crash as he tries to stop the evil villains who have ripped a tear in the space-time in order to escape the island they were isolated on. Crash will also need to find the guardians of the universe in the game, and with the help of the four guardian quantum masks, Crash will need to restore balance to the universe. The collected masks will give Crash a number of powers that will affect platforming and combat in the game, as well as give Crash a special ability that will allow him to slow down time in order to defeat obstacles or enemies. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will release on October 2nd on PS4 and Xbox One consoles, and more information can be found on the game’s official page.
