Bandai Namco released their first DLC for Code Vein, called “Hellfire Knight.” As suggested by the title the DLC adds a new boss to defeat, the “Hellfire Knight.” The Hellfire Knight lives up to his name utilizing fire based moves and buffs. This draws some similarities to another boss the “Successor of the Claw”, who also benefit from inflicting fire damage effects.
The DLC also added more content than just a new boss to attempt to defeat. The DLC adds bonus challenges to complete while defeating the Hellfire Knight called Horror Hunting Trials. One of the trials, “Knight Monarch Overthrow” requires players to defeat the Hellfire Knight without dying more than ten times. Completing these challenges unlocks bonuses such as cosmetics, weapons, and in the case with Knight Monarch Overthrow challenge, a new blood code called “Surt” which focuses on high stamina and low health. Additionally, Bandai Namco revealed several alternative costumes for Io and Louis. Three weapons were revealed “Inferno Blade,” “Hellfire Hammer,” “Wrathful Balmung” all of which appears to have flame based properties.
Finally, the Hellfire Knight DLC adds a new map of the depths, unlocking a new location to explore. The new location to explore is called “Fiery Oblivion” and is themed as a rocky desert, mostly likely featuring flame based enemies and dangers. The reward for completing Fiery Oblivion, is a new blood code “Achilles.” Details of the Achilles blood code haven’t been revealed.
When purchasing the DLC, players are rewarded with another new blood code “Asclepius.” Repairing Asclepius reveals the memories of a previously unknown successor. Both the map for Fiery Oblivion and Asclepius can be found in a new side room in the corridor to the opening to the “Provisional Government Outskirts” coming from the “Crypt Spire.”
The Hellfire Knight DLC is available for $9.99 or is including the the season pass for $24.99. Two more DLCs are planned for Code Vein.
