Today, Microsoft revealed news and updates on titles from Xbox Game Studios and some of its partners and showcased some new gameplay deep dives with some titles launching on Xbox Game Pass later this year. Microsoft Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Age of Empires IV, Forza Horizon 5, and more were showcased during the stream. Here is a rundown of everything was revealed during the Gamescom 2021 Xbox Stream.
A new trailer was revealed for the upcoming Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The trailer showcased more footage of parkour and the melee combat system. There are both melee weapons and ranged weapons that players will be able to use. Players can combine combat and parkour to fight enemies in a variety of different ways.
There were several updates announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator. World Update VI brings in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland into the game with new aerial imagery, high-resolution elevation maps, brand new 3d cities and the Junkers JU-52 aircraft. The update is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator on September 7. The VoloCity Air Taxi will be coming in November. Also coming to the game is the STIHL National Championship Air Races, the world’s fastest motorsport.
Humble Games announced that its lineup of indie games will be launching for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on day one and will be available with Xbox Game Pass. The lineup includes Archvale, Bushiden, Chinatown Detective Agency, Dodgeball Academia, Flynn: Son of Crimson, Midnight Fight Express, Next Space Rebels, Signalis, Unpacking, and Unsighted. There was also a trailer for Into The Pit.
Age of Empires IV will be getting new, unlockable videos called Hands on History. Each of the twenty-eight videos was filmed on location with experts around the world and gives players a deeper look into the way people lived, fought, and ruled in the past.
Cloud Gaming will be available for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this holiday. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play 100+ games right from the cloud right on their console with a click of a button. Xbox Cloud Gaming has been available across PCs, phones, and tablets and just like the service there, the highest quality experience will be up to 1080p and at 60fps. Owners of Xbox One can play Gen 9-only Xbox games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and The Medium on their Xbox One via the cloud.
The second and final expansion for Wasteland 3 was revealed. Wasteland 3: Cult of the Holy Detonation expands the Wasteland 3 experience with entry into the Cheyenne Mountain complex, with new characters, enemies, challenging combat encounters, and powerful new weapons and armor. The update will be available for $6.99 on Steam, GOG, Xbox, and PlayStation on October 5. You can also get the new update with the Wasteland 3 Colorado Collection. The Collection has Wasteland 3 and the two expansions as well as the Colorado Survival Gear bonus items.
A new ship is now available in Sea of Thieves with the launch of the Making Mayhem event. In collaboration with Gearbox Software, players can get the Mayhem ship set styled after the Borderlands franchises. The Making Mayhem event will be live from now until September 7.
The State of Decay 2 Homecoming update, coming September 1 will bring back the original map from the first game, Trumbull Valley. It’s a new version of the original map. Players will learn about the developments of the area, discovering new characters and storylines as well as resolving long-running plot threads. There will be six new bases, as well as unique weapons and outfits that can only be found in Trumbull Valley.
Stray Blade is a new upcoming game that blends Metroidvania elements with intense Souls-like combat. Players will fight to regain their freedom in hyper-responsive combat scenarios, explore ancient ruins, and survive against legendary foes. The game will be available for Xbox Series X|S in 2022.
Crusaders Kings III will be coming soon to Xbox Series X|S. The strategy game allows players to command the fate of empires by letting them rule how they want. The UI has been customized to work with the Xbox Wireless Controller, including the addition of radial menus. The game will also take full advantage of the Xbox Series X|S like the consoles’ ultrafast load times thanks to the internal SSD.
The launch trailer for Psychonauts 2 was released for Double Fine’s next game which is set to release tomorrow and will launch on Xbox Game Pass. A new trailer for The Gunk was also released. The single-player, story-driven sci-fi exploration game is set to come out later this year in December.
Playground Games shared the first eight minutes of the next game in the Forza Horizon series, Forza Horizon 5. They also revealed the cover cars that players can use to explore Mexico, the Mercedes-AMG ONE and the 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands. Playground Games also announced the Forza Horizon 5 Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller, inspired by the powder fireworks that go off throughout the day at the in-game Horizon festival.
