All year, everyone has been gushing over Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and when nominations for The Game Awards 2025 happened people expected it to be nominated for a lot of awards. No one would expect the game would become the most nominated game of all time in the event’s eleven yer history. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was nominated twelve times amongst ten different categories. These categories were Best RPG, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, Best Art Direction, Best Audio Design, Best Score, three different nominations for Best Performance, Best Game Direction, and finally Game of the Year.
From that moment on, it felt like it was inevitable for the game to win the most awards of the night. That it did, as the game nearly swept all ten categories it was nominated in. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ended up winning 9 out of the 10 awards it was nominated, and only lost out to Battlefield 6 in the Best Audio Design category. This is an impressive feat from a new studio and their first game ever.
To celebrate, the developers at Sandfall Interactive have released a “Thank You” update for the game which is out now. This new update includes new areas to explore, new challenging bosses to encounter, new music, new localizations, and an official photo mode for the game. With the massive success the game has seen in such a short amount of time, it will be all eyes on Sandfall Interactive to see what they come up with next.
