Today at Summer Game Fest, Raw Power Games, a new studio formed by industry veterans, unveiled its first project, Chronicles: Medieval, an open-world sandbox set in 14th- and 15th-century Europe. The game combines action combat, deep RPG systems, and large-scale strategy, letting players shape their destiny in a dynamic medieval world. Players will carve their path through conquest, diplomacy, or trade, making choices that ripple across the game’s evolving landscape. The sandbox design ensures that no two stories unfold the same, with emergent events and shifting alliances keeping the experience fresh. Andrzej Zawadzki, Senior Designer, says as following:
Whether you want to build a kingdom, lead armies, or become a legendary merchant, your choices shape history
The game features realistic medieval combat, developed with guidance from HEMA expert Björn Rüther for historically accurate swordplay. Players can fight on the frontlines or command massive armies in sprawling battles, choosing from historically inspired units like English Longbowmen and French cavalry. Cooperative play allows friends to join forces in custom battles.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and Raw Power’s proprietary Asgard technology, Chronicles: Medieval will launch in Early Access on Steam in 2026, with console versions to follow. Raw Power Games plans to involve the community early through playtests and Discord discussions. The studio aims to refine the game based on player input, ensuring a sandbox that grows alongside its audience. The studio comprises over 100 developers with experience on major titles like The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Based in Copenhagen, the team focuses on deep, player-driven experiences.
